Asia Real Estate People in the News 2022-03-14

A new board member at a Hong Kong-listed developer leads Mingtiandi’s roundup of personnel moves this week, as we bring you news of job changes in Singapore, Shanghai, Bangalore and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as in Greater China’s commercial hub.

Elaine Carole YoungHysan Development Co Ltd announced on 9 March that it has appointed Elaine Carole Young as an independent, non-executive director on its board, with effect that same day. Now 57, Young is a rental residential specialist who co-founded Shama serviced apartments in 2000 with Morgan Stanley, and now joins the Hong Kong-listed developer’s sustainability committee as part of her duties on the board of directors.

David Ling CDLDavid Ling has signed up for a new hitch with Singapore’s City Developments Ltd, with the hotel veteran being named global head of hospitality investment and asset management in the company’s executive chairman’s office earlier this year, according to a LinkedIn update. Ling, who had served most recently as managing director of hotels and hospitality for Asia Pacific at CBRE, had worked as head of strategic development for CDL Hospitality Trusts from 2014 through 2019.

CapitaLand-Gauri-Shankar-NagabhushanamCapitaLand Investment announced on 9 March that it has appointed Gauri Shankar Nagabhushanam as chief executive officer of its India Business Parks unit with effect from 1 April 2022. Based in Bangalore, Nagabhushanam, who has over 16 years of experience in real estate, had previously served as chief financial officer for CapitaLand’s India logistics joint venture, Ascendas-Firstspace. He will be replacing Vinamra Srivastava, who will be relocating to Singapore to take on a new role with CapitaLand Group.

Brenda Lu LorealBrenda Lu has been appointed head of real estate for north Asia and China at L’Oreal, according to a LinkedIn update. Based in Shanghai, Lu, who has been with the French beauty brand since 2017, had served most recently as head of real estate for China and Asia Pacific with L’Oreal. The Shanghai International Studies University graduate also has previous experience with Unilever, CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield.

Dominik Wiesent HmletDominik Wiesent has been named chief innovation officer with Hmlet in Hong Kong. Wiesent, who has been with the co-living operator since 2018, takes on his new role after previously serving as managing director for more than one year. The graduate of the University of Applied Science of Konstanz and Hong Kong Polytechnic University also has experience with Rofra Bau AG in Switzerland and with the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority.

Ben Gray Knight FrankKnight Frank has hired Ben Gray as director for capital markets for its recently established Vietnam operation, according to a LinkedIn update. Gray, who previously spent more than five years with Cushman & Wakefield in Ho Chi Minh City, has now been brokering deals in Vietnam’s commercial capital since 2014. Knight Frank had announced the opening of its Vietnam office on 17 February under the leadership of Alex Crane.
