One of Korea’s largest pension funds leads off this week’s review of personnel moves from around the region as the Seoul-based organisation chooses a new chief investment officer. Also making the list is a new finance chief for the owner of Hong Kong’s Peninsula Hotel and a new role for a familiar face in the data centre world.

Jeon Bum-sikSouth Korea’s Teachers’ Pension has hired Jeon Bum-Sik as its new chief investment officer, according to local media reports this past week citing industry sources. The fund, which managed KRW 24.6 billion ($18.1 billion) in assets as of the second quarter of this year, is hiring Jeon from SK Securities, where he is currently a vice president in charge of alternative investment with the Korean investment bank.

Keith James Robertson2The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels said on 2 November that it has appointed Keith James Robertson as executive director and chief financial officer starting from February 2024. Robertson joins the owner of the Peninsula Hotel chain from Destinations Development Company in Saudi Arabia, where he has been serving as CFO since September 2021. He also spent nearly a decade at Kingdom Hotel Investments in Dubai.

Chris StreetData centre veteran Chris Street has rejoined ST Telemedia Global Data Centres in Singapore as group chief revenue officer, according to a LinkedIn update. Street took on his new duties this month after just under two years at JLL, where he had served as managing director and head of data centres. He also spent just over two years at Princeton Digital Group after working at ST Telemedia Global Data Centres from 2016 through 2019.

China Aoyuan Group informed the Hong Kong stock exchange on 31 October that it has redesignated Ma Jun, 46, as a non-executive director of the company with effect from 1 November. Ma joined the Guangzhou-based developer in 2015 and had served as an executive director from that date. Along with the redesignation, Ma has ceased to hold all other positions with China Aoyuan Group, according to the announcement.

Avnish SinghAvnish Singh has been promoted to chief executive officer for the mixed-use division of Indian developer RMZ Corp, according to a LinkedIn update. Singh is taking his step up with the Bengaluru-based builder after working more than two years as managing director for investment management with the company. Singh also previously spent more than 11 years with US developer Tishman Speyer in India, including serving as managing director and country head.

Ooi Bee Ti SFKerry Logistics Network on 31 October announced to the Hong Kong stock exchange that it had appointed Ooi Bei Ti as a non-executive director on its board with effect from that day. Now 51, Ooi currently serves as head of corporate treasury for SF Holdings, the parent firm of Kerry Logistics after first joining the company in 2010. She joined Kerry Logistics’ board on the same day that non-executive director Chan Fei stepped down.

Piers StewardPiers Steward has joined Merlin Entertainments in Hong Kong as real estate and site search director for Asia Pacific, according to a LinkedIn update. Steward picked up his name cards at the UK-based operator of attractions such as Madame Tussaud’s after more than two years at JLL in the city, where he had served as a director with the tenant representation division of its office leasing team. The University of Reading graduate also spent more than seven years with Colliers in Hong Kong.

Kitty Cheung HinesKitty Cheung has been promoted to senior manager of sustainability and communications for Greater China at Hines, according to a LinkedIn update. Based in the US developer and fund manager’s Shanghai office, Cheung has now been with Hines for more than four years where she had previously served as China senior marketing manager and leader of ESG. Cheung also has previous experience with Tesco Property and Nan Fung China Development.
